Ionel Talpazan

IONEL TALPAZAN, an outsider artist, creates beautiful diagrammatic depictions of flying saucers and outer space through sculpture, painting and drawing. Talpazan, Romanian born, escaped his native home in the dead of night by swimming across the Danube. He was eventually granted political asylum in the United States. As a child in Romania, Talpazan remembers becoming enveloped by a circle of blue energy. He came to believe it was a UFO emerging from the night sky. Since that time Talpazan has devoted his life to revealing the forms, inner structures, forces of energy and propulsion of UFOs through a marriage of art and science. Selling his art on the streets of New York City, he has acquired a cult following. His work has also been exhibited in a number of galleries and Museums including: Outsider Art Fair, the American Primitive Art Gallery, the Laskowski Gallery, Yvette Jacob Gallery, the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore and the Musee d'Art Brut in France. Talpazan was included in the WNET program, "EGG; The Arts Show," which focused on untrained, "visionary" artists and their uncommonly original, playful and powerful interpretations of "space."
