SEBASTIAN BLACK grew up in New York. He graduated from Vassar college in 2007 and recently received a grant to study art in New Zealand. He now lives in Long Island City. When asked about his work for "Invasions", Sebastian stated "I paint self portraits with latex paint on insulation foam. The works in this show are flat the way an antique movie set is flat. Which is to say, they are flat, but also not really. If they were a sandwich they would be a piece of paper with the words 'plain toast' written on it."
